Get Out of Your Own Way
Day 11.
Crossing the Khumbu Glacier.
Breath thin.
Legs heavy.
Hip screaming.
Avalanches rumbling in the distance.
But suddenly, a moment of clarity: “If I stay with this breath… then this step…and the next… I will reach Base Camp.”
Not because the path was easy. But because the only thing in my way was me.
And I did reach it.
All eight of us did.
At Base Camp, tears streamed down my face. You might think it was exhaustion or the unyielding pain in my hip, but really, it was from remembering my own vastness.
It was then I learned that: When you get out of your own way, deeper strength steps forward.
Did you know more people are scared of public speaking than death?
Stepping into public speaking is like stepping into the unknown. And doing so has required me to get out of my own way. It has required me to trust that this is something I know how to do and to keep moving forward with it.
As our Everest Base Camp lead guide, Avi’s kind words often remind me, “you will cross your own limits.”
So, here’s to more limit-crossing in 2026. Here’s to getting out of our own way. To beginning again. To surrendering what we can’t control. To reframing for the present. To finding magic where we can. I look forward to a magically unfolding 2026 and am thankful to be here on this journey with you.
Mindful Moment of Reflection:
When have you held yourself back? How can you step out of your way in 2026?
